Goitregenic Foods
Goitregenic foods are foods that interfere with the functioning of the thyroid gland. The thyroid is responsible for controlling metabolism, and can become under or over active. There are 2 main categories of food that contain goitregens:
those derived from soy beans, and the brassica family of vegetables. As well as a number of other foods If you are suffering from an underactive thyroid it is advised that you do not consume excessive amounts of the following foods:

| Broccoli | Cabbage | Brussel Sprouts |
| Cauliflower | Kale | Kohlrabi |
| Turnips | Millet | Peaches |
| Peanuts | Radishes | Soybeans |
| Tofu | Soy products | Spinach |
| Strawberries | Apples |
NB Cooking can reduce the levels of goitregens, so you can eat a moderate amount of the above foods once cooked.
